How many verses of Quran should be recited after al Fatihah in Jammah prayer?
In Jammah (congregational) prayer, the practice regarding the recitation after Al-Fatiha varies based on the number of rak'ahs. According to a narration in Sunan Ibn Majah, We used to recite behind the Imam during Dhuhr and Asr prayers: in the first two units with Al-Fatiha and a surah, and in the last two units with only Al-Fatiha.
Sunan Ibn Majah 6:41
Additionally, in Al-Kafi, it is explained that In the first rak'ah, recite Al-Fatiha, ten verses from the beginning of Al-Baqarah including the verse of the rock and from 'And your God is one God, there is no deity except Him, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.' Up to 'Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth...'
Al-Kafi 4:863.
This indicates that in the first two rak'ahs, it is recommended to recite Al-Fatiha followed by a surah or a number of verses, while in the last two rak'ahs, only Al-Fatiha is recited.

Al-Kafi · Book 4, Hadith 863
In the words of Allah, the Exalted, "Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence and more suitable for words," he said: "They are two rak'ahs after Maghrib. In the first rak'ah, recite Al-Fatiha, ten verses from the beginning of Al-Baqarah including the verse of the rock and from 'And your God is one God, there is no deity except Him, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.' Up to 'Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth...' then say 'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad' fifteen times. In the second rak'ah recite Al-Fatiha, the Ayat al-Kursi, and the end of Al-Baqarah from 'To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth...' until you finish the surah, then say 'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad' fifteen times and then supplicate as you wish. He said whoever persists in it will be recorded for every prayer six hundred thousand pilgrimages. — OR — I was with Abu Hasan Musa (peace be upon him) when a Christian man came to him at Al-'Urayd. The Christian said, "I have come from a distant land after a difficult journey. For thirty years I have asked my Lord to guide me to the best religion and best servants and those who know most. A man came to me in a dream and described a man in the upper Damascus. I set out until I reached him and spoke to him. He said, 'I am the most knowledgeable of my people in their religion, and others even more knowledgeable than me.' I said, 'Guide me to someone more knowledgeable than you, for I do not consider the journey too difficult, nor do I find the hardship overwhelming. I have read the entire Gospel, the Psalms of David, four books of the Torah, and I have studied the apparent meanings of the Qur'an until I comprehended all of it.' Then the scholar said to me, 'If you want knowledge of Christianity, I know the Arabs and non-Arabs therein; if you want knowledge of the Jews, then Bati ibn Sharhabil al-Samiri is the most knowledgeable today. But if you want knowledge of Islam, the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, the Book of Hud, and everything revealed to any prophet in your era or prior eras, as well as all that has been revealed from the heavens, whether known or unknown, here is the explanation of all things, a cure for the worlds, a soul for whoever seeks comfort in it, and insight for whoever God wishes well and draws close to the truth — I will guide you to him. Go to him, even if you must travel on foot; if you cannot, crawl on your knees; if you still cannot, creep on your stomach; if you cannot do that, then on your face.' I said, 'No, I am able to travel by my body and wealth.' He said, 'Then set out immediately to reach Yathrib.' I said, 'I do not know Yathrib.' He said, 'Go until you reach the city of the Prophet who was sent among the Arabs; he is the Arab Hashimi prophet. When you enter it, ask about Bani Ghanm ibn Malik ibn Najjar, near the gate of its mosque, and appear in the dress and attire of the Christian. Its governor is harsh to them, and the caliph is more severe. Then ask about Bani Amr ibn Mabdhul in Baqi' al-Zubayr. Then ask about Musa ibn Ja'far; where is his residence, and is he traveling or present? If traveling, follow him, for his journey is nearer than the one you set out for. Inform him that Matran 'Ulya al-Ghouta, the Ghouta of Damascus, directed me to you and sends you many greetings and says he often supplicates his Lord that my Islam be by your hand.' He told this story leaning on his staff. Then he said, 'If you permit me, O my master, I will perform ablution and sit.' He said, 'You may sit, but you may not perform ablution.' He sat, then removed his cloak and said, 'Will you permit me to speak?' He said, 'Yes, you only came for that.' The Christian said, 'Return greetings to my companion.' He said, 'Do you return greetings?' Abu Hasan (peace be upon him) said, 'If God guides your companion, then the greeting is when he joins our religion.' The Christian said, 'I ask you, may God reform you: Tell me about the Book of God, exalted, revealed to Muhammad, who spoke by it, then described it as "Ha Mim, and the clear Book. Indeed We sent it down on a blessed night; indeed We were warners. On it every wise affair is concluded." What is its inner interpretation?' The man said, 'Describe to me the first and last of these men.' He said, 'The traits resemble each other but the third of the people: I will describe to you what comes from his offspring, and he is in your revealed books if you did not change, distort, or disbelieve as you long ago did.' The Christian said, 'I do not hide from you what I know, nor do I deny you, and you know what I say about the truthfulness and falsehood of it. By God, God has granted you from His bounty and given you from His favors what no one conceives and no concealer hides, and none who deny it can disbelieve in it. Thus my statement to you is truthful as I said.' Abu Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said, 'I also hasten to tell you something that few who read books know. Tell me, what is the name of the mother of Mary and on what day was Mary conceived, and how many hours of the day, and on what day did she give birth to Jesus (peace be upon him) and how many hours of the day?' The Christian said, 'I do not know.' Abu Ibrahim said, 'The name of Mary’s mother is Martha, and that is Wahiba in Arabic. The day Mary was conceived is Friday at noon, the day when the trustworthy spirit descended. There is no festival among Muslims more deserving than it, glorified by God and glorified by Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), who ordered it to be observed as a feast—it is Friday. The day she gave birth to Mary is Tuesday, for four and a half hours of the day. The river where Mary gave birth to Jesus (peace be upon him) — do you know it?' He said, 'No.' He said, 'It is the Euphrates, upon which palm trees and vines grow. Nothing equals the Euphrates for vineyards and palm trees.' As for the day she lost her voice and Caiydus and his followers called for help and brought out the family of Imran to look at Mary, they asked her, 'What did God tell you in His book and what did He tell us in His book? Did you understand?' She said, 'Yes, and I have read it recently.' He said, 'Then do not rise from your seat until God guides you.' The Christian said, 'What was my mother’s name in Syriac and Arabic?' He said, 'Your mother’s name in Syriac was Anqaliya and Unqura. Your grandmother’s name for your father was also so. Your mother’s name in Arabic is Miya. Your father’s name is Abd al-Masih, which is Abd Allah in Arabic. There is no servant to the Messiah.' He said, 'You have spoken truth and honesty. What was my grandfather’s name?' He said, 'Your grandfather’s name was Jibra'il (Gabriel), who was Abd al-Rahman; I named him in my session.' He said, 'He was Muslim.' Abu Ibrahim said, 'Yes, and he was killed as a martyr. Soldiers came upon him and killed him treacherously in his house. The soldiers were from the people of Sham.' He said, 'What was my name before my kunya?' He said, 'Your name was Abd al-Salib.' He said, 'What do you name me?' He said, 'I name you Abd Allah.' He said, 'I have believed in God the Almighty, testified that there is no god except God alone without partner, unique, eternal, incomparable to the descriptions the Christians and Jews give. I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, sent with truth, who explained it to his people and blinded the vanquished blind ones. He was the Messenger of God for all peoples, the red and the black, all sharing in him. He guided whoever was guided and blinded the vanquished blind. And what they called vanished from them. I testify that his guardian spoke with his wisdom and that those before him among the prophets spoke with profound wisdom, cooperated in obedience to God, abandoned falsehood and its people, impurity and its people, avoided the path of error, helped by obedience to Him, and preserved from disobedience. They are guardians of God and supporters of religion, urging good and commanding it. I believe in the small and great among them, those I mentioned and those I did not mention. I believe in God, the Blessed and Exalted, Lord of the Worlds.' Then he cut his belt and a gold cross that was on his neck, then said, 'Order me where to give my charity.' He said, 'Here is a brother of yours who shares your religion and is from Qays ibn Tha'laba, in favor as you are; you shall comfort and neighbor one another, and I will not fail to pay your due in Islam.' God bless you, I am wealthy and I have left three hundred horses and mares and a thousand camels, and your right in them is more complete than mine." He said to him, "You are the client of God and His Messenger and in your lineage as you are." He said, "His Islam was good. He married a woman from Bani Fihr and Abu Ibrahim (peace be upon him) lent her fifty dinars from the alms of Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), served him, lodged him until Abu Ibrahim was expelled. He died after his release twenty-eight nights later.
