Is there a sunnah prayer before salat aljumua (Friday prayer)?
Yes, there is a sunnah prayer before Salat al-Jumu'a (Friday prayer). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to offer two rak'ahs of sunnah prayer before the obligatory Friday prayer. This practice is supported by various narrations, including one from Sahih al-Bukhari, which states: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to pray the Friday prayer when the sun began to decline.
Sahih al-Bukhari 11:28.
The sunnah prayer before Jumu'a is recommended as it allows the worshipper to prepare spiritually and physically for the congregational prayer. This practice emphasizes the importance of the Friday prayer and the etiquette surrounding its observance, which includes engaging in additional acts of worship before the main prayer.
