What is the "Go-To Verse" in the Qur'an?
The "Go-To Verse" in the Qur'an is widely recognized as Ayat al-Kursi, which is verse 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah. This verse is highly revered for its profound meanings regarding God's sovereignty, knowledge, and power. It states: Allah! There is no deity save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh Him. Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous.
2:255. This verse encapsulates the essence of God's majesty and His role as the sustainer of all creation.
The significance of this verse is further emphasized in various narrations. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ mentioned the importance of Ayat al-Kursi, stating: For everything there is a summit, and the summit of the Qur'an is Surah al-Baqarah. In it is a verse which is the chief of the verses of the Qur'an, and that is Ayat al-Kursi.
Sunan al-Tirmidhi 45:4.
Additionally, there are numerous benefits associated with reciting Ayat al-Kursi. In Al-Kafi, it is narrated that Whoever recites the Verse of the Throne at bedtime will not fear the splitting one, God willing. Whoever recites it after every obligatory prayer, no feverish illness will harm him.
Al-Kafi 3:80. This highlights the protective and beneficial nature of this verse for those who recite it regularly.
Thus, Ayat al-Kursi holds a paramount place in the hearts of Muslims, both for its theological depth and the spiritual protection it is believed to provide.

Al-Kafi 3:80
Al-Kafi · Book 3, Hadith 80
Ayub ibn Nuh wrote to Abu al-Hasan (peace be upon him) asking about Allah, exalted and mighty: Did He know things before He created and fashioned them, or did He not know until He created and willed them? He knew what He created as He created it and what He willed as He willed it. He signed by his handwriting, "Allah has always been knowledgeable of things before He created them, just as He knows things after having created them." — OR — Whoever recites the Verse of the Throne at bedtime will not fear the splitting one, God willing. Whoever recites it after every obligatory prayer, no feverish illness will harm him. Whoever places "Say: He is Allah, the One" between himself and an oppressor, Allah will prevent harm from that oppressor from before him, behind him, to his right, and to his left. When he does so, Allah will grant him His goodness and protect him from His evil. And if you fear something, recite one hundred verses of the Qur'an from wherever you wish, then say: 'O Allah, remove affliction from me' three times. — OR — I said, 'May God make you righteous: whoever loves to meet God, God loves to meet him; and whoever hates to meet God, God hates to meet him.' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'By God, we dislike death.' He said, 'That is not where you go, but that is at the moment of witnessing—when he sees what he loves, there is nothing more beloved to him than to hasten to meet. God Almighty loves meeting Him, and He loves to meet God at that moment; and if he sees what he dislikes, there is nothing more hateful to him than to meet God, and God hates meeting him.' — OR — I said to Abu Abdullah (peace be upon him): I took a piece from a tile of the station (Maqam) and some soil from around the House and seven stones. He said: What you have done is detestable. As for the soil and stones, return them. — OR — In some of his sayings, the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) said: "The wild beasts' concern is their bellies, but women's concern is men." — OR — Regarding a man who gives money to another to buy a slave and free him, it was said to Abu Ja'far: It is not permissible. — OR — Regarding a mad woman who committed fornication, he said: She does not control her actions and no punishment is upon her.
