Who washed the Prophet's(PBUH) Janaza?

The washing of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) after his passing was a matter of great significance and care. According to a narration in Sunan Abu Dawud, when it was time to wash the Prophet, his companions were uncertain about the procedure. They said: By Allah, we do not know whether to uncover the Messenger of Allah from his clothes as we do with the dead or to wash him while he is still wearing his clothes. Sunan Abu Dawud 21:53SunniHasan (per Al-Albani) During their debate, Allah caused them to fall asleep, and when they awoke, a voice from near the house instructed them: "Wash the Prophet while he is wearing his clothes." Consequently, they washed the Messenger of Allah, pouring water over his garment and rubbing it while still on, without touching his skin. Aisha remarked, "If it had been left to me, I would have done it differently; his wives alone washed him."

This account highlights not only the care taken in washing the Prophet's body but also the role of his wives in the process, as they were among those who participated in the washing.
